by Arthur C. Clarke, 1952
Short, sweet children’s book about a boy’s longing to be in space. Roy wins a prize from World Airways – travel anywhere they fly. He chooses to fly to the Inner Station – a space station just outside of Earth’s atmosphere. They fly him there and he gets to spend a month or so in space. He has some adventures, learns from others’ adventures, and, in the end, discovers he really wants to live on Mars when he grows up. I got it from a Little Free Library, but cannot remember which one. It’s by the author of 2001, A Space Odyssey and Childhood’s End. Wayne likes and owns Childhood’s End. I’ll read that next. Arthur C. Clarke is Victor’s favorite author, and 2001 A Space Odyssey is his favorite book by him.
